Facelift

A facelift is a form of plastic surgery that is used to enhance a person’s facial appearance. The technical name for this is a rhytidectomy. It works most efficiently in the mid face section; the area between a person’s nose and eyelids. A surgeon will work on the patients face to repositions fat deposits and actually pull the skin of the face up; which can have the result of an extremely younger looking face. This procedure will virtually eliminate sagging skin and will tighten a person’s facial skin; giving a younger and more lively appearance. Sagging skin due to age, can have the tension released, thus providing not only a more attractive appearance but also give a result of the face actually physically feeling more youthful. It can remove excess fat, tighten muscles and reshape a person’s facial skin. Sometimes, this form of plastic surgery can be done along side other cosmetic surgeries such as an eyelid life or nose job.

This surgery is considered fairly extensive as a surgeon will make deep incisions into the actual muscle of a person’s face. Depending on desired results and the discretion of the surgeon, an endoscope may be used to perform this face lift plastic surgery. An endoscope is a surgical instrument that will allow a surgeon to see internal images of a person, via very small incisions. Several incisions may be made in various locations on the patient’s face so that a surgeon may see exactly what must be done to obtain the desired results. The middle of a person’s face will be pulled upwards and will usually have the result of a person having fewer wrinkles and quite likely an astonishing change of appearance. Successful plastic surgery procedure such as this can literally make a person appear to lose years of aging; often giving remarkable positive results.

The best candidates for this type of cosmetic surgery are those who are wishing for a younger appearance and realize that this procedure will not completely change the way they look; they will be certainly recognized; however they will most often appear years younger. A person should investigate and research many doctors. A successful operation will be one which a person looks younger, but will not appear to look “fake”. The best candidates are those who have deep lines on the corner or their mouths or the lack of a well defined jaw line. These issues are most often successfully fixed.

Medial technologies has come a long way, in years past facelifts simply pulled skin back and this gave a person a fake look, as if they were in a strong wind. Now, this operation can be done in as little as one hour and will give a much more natural appearance.

The cons of this plastic surgery are that a person will have some swelling, pain and bruising. These can be quite severe at first; however medicines can be given as a person heals. A person will usually have stitches. The stitches can be removed after seven to ten days after the plastic surgery. It is recommended that a person not exercise for six weeks. The body must be allowed to heal and recover. Never damage is always a risk, sometimes if this occurs a second operation may need to be done to fix this issue. Numbness may occur, in rare circumstances, the numbness my be permanent.

The pros to this cosmetic surgery are that it can produce great results. Sagging skin will be returned to a more youthful looking appearance. If a person has sagging skin around their mouth it can make a person look happier. The affects of this procedure can last up to ten years. A person will have very minimal scarring.
